Mariners Rumblings Lead To Talks Of Felix For Life

Winter Meetings are under way and that leads me back to the post. The post of writing a blog once again. I gave up on my last blog at Mariners Latest last season to pursue other things and now, those things are over with. Now I watch all the happenings in Mariner Nation -or the lack thereof- and it makes me crazy not to write about it. I gave my last blog away, so here's my attempt at starting over.

So far this winter we have learned that the Mariners are leaving no question marks about a single player available. Starting with Josh Hamilton being the major piece to being a player that the Mariners wouldn't look to at all and now back to being a major possibility. Well, at least some believe that it's between us and Texas.

We've heard names like Justin Upton, Billy Butler, Michael Borne and Jason Bay. We heard a little bit about Mike Napoli before he signed with Boston and we have even heard about familiar names such as Michael Morse, Raul Ibanez, Shin Soo Choo and Asdrubal Cabrera coming back for another tour with the Mariners. Then, the last thing I heard today was what we were all anticipating and crossing our fingers for, Dee Gordon rumors! Okay, maybe not, but that is the spectrum of rumors that Jack Z has dealt with. One cannot say that he's not doing his homework.

The most appealing bit of news to come from the winter meetings so far is that the Mariners have begun talking with Felix Hernandez about being a Mariner for life. It's something that Felix very much wants and has stated all along and now the Mariners look to be attempting to make that happen.

Felix is one of the best pitchers in the MLB and the best part is, he's only 26 years old. With 2 years left on his current contract, the Mariners are dealing with the most coveted piece in all of Major League Baseball. The ACE! Every team wants him and every team would give up a lot to have him, but it's the one thing that Jack Z is totally unwilling to part with.

I know the rest of us are all on the same page as Jack with this so there is really little to discuss, but how many players have we seen like Felix Hernandez that desire to play for one team their entire career. It's awesome! I can't wait for the day that this comes to fruition.
